Arsenal Football Club has a new home, the Emirates Stadium.
The complex is now the largest football stadium built to date in the UK with a seating capacity of 60,000. Remarkably, the project has been completed on time and on budget. Despite initial opposition to moving from the club’s long time home, Highbury stadium, urban integration and regeneration was a main goal of the Arsenal’s new home.
Rather than move from Arsenal’s neighbourhood to less expensive, underdeveloped area, Emirates Stadium and its associated facilities are built on four sites in a densely populated part of North London. Part of regeneration of the area meant getting high quality architectural and landscaping details, such as circulation routes between the surrounding neighbourhoods and the stadium and future land development.
Siteco has contributed to the design of the circulation routes and public areas in and around the stadium with a bespoke lighting solution. Sistar Projectors and Mirrortec panels provide a uniform light distribution that allows for good facial recognition and safe atmosphere. The panels and projectors are integrated with the architecture of the site in an attractive column mounting arrangement. The lighting has helped contribute to the appearance that Emirates Stadium Arsenal’s new home has grown organically into the complex neighbourhood network of Islington. Emirates Stadium has given back to the community that has supported the team for decades and allows for future development of the club and the fans living in the area.
