The Golden Horn in a New Light

The old town area Eminönü lies at the southern end of the Galata bridge spanning the waters of the Golden Horn. This immemorial, pulsating part of Istanbul now shows itself in a new light. As part of a large-scale urban redevelopment scheme, the historic Eminönü square has been restored to its former glory and the surrounding streets have been newly equipped with municipal facilities. The installation of modern lighting systems formed the conclusion of the redevelopment scheme. Luminaires with secondary lighting control (Galaxsie) as well as various mast luminaires with radial facetted reflector systems (SQ 100/200 and DL 500 Midi/Maxi) were deplored. The Galaxsie has now almost become a trade mark of the metropolis on the Bosphorus and illuminates pedestrian zones and parks both in the recently modernised Besiktas area as well as the Taksim part of the city.
