A 130-acre site, Glasgow Harbour was, until recently, mostly redundant dockland. The size and scale of area gave scope for an entirely new district in the West End of Glasgow, with an integrated mix of high quality commercial, residential, leisure, and public space.
Siteco was presented with the challenge of lighting the public walkways. Due to the amount of residential use on the site, minimizing glare and light spill to nearby properties was a crucial aim of the design. Equally critical was the objective of providing luminaires that aesthectically integrated with the residential properties' style. Siteco provided their unique Mirrortec secondary reflector technology in the modern form of the decorative GALAXSiE luminaires. The CiTI LiGHT 260 D column, with its varying optical control, was used in areas directly adjacent to the residential buildings. This product selection minimized light intrusion whilst providing a visually simulating and useful light contribution from both high and low level illumination points.
