Flexible and efficient lighting for innovative car assembly.

With reference to the high level of quality and flexibility of modern car assembly, lighting systems have to guarantee a uniform level of lighting in the assembly area and a light incidence that avoids annoying glare on metal surfaces. One example: At the 'BMW Group Plant Oxford' where MINI cars are produced, the lighting solutions from Siteco offer a high level of quality and flexibility. The legendary Siteco DUS trunking system is designed as a modular system and according to requirements, supplementary elements such as reflectors and louvres can be mounted without use of tools.

The site at Oxford was equipped with DUS trunking luminaires for suspended mounting, including DUS IP60 trunking with symmetrical and asymmetrical
light distribution. The highly specular aluminium reflectors guarantee high levels of vertical illuminance. This allows the highly skilled Mini engineers
to assemble and inspect the cars, ensuring the Mini is in perfect condition prior to its despatch to another expectant Mini owner. In auxiliary areas,
58 Watt DUS IP20 trunking with open lamp distribution were installed.

Dimmable electronic control gear was specified for additional flexibility. The high IP60 protection rating is a requirement for the special conditions met in automobile production plants. Luminaires used in such surroundings
are dustproof and are unaffected by sparks and weld-splatter. They also operate faultlessly in high-temperature surroundings such as those prevailing in manufacturing halls.
