Lighting design for Siteco is the art of planning a visual space and aiding in the use of this space with the help of light. Two areas of architectural lighting design exist that between them determine the quality of a lighting solution:
Design With Daylight
Within this area are to be found all activities that influence the ingress and use of natural daylight into architectural spaces, whether the light is diffuse daylight or direct sunlight. Daylight planning is determined by the volumetric structure of the building, its facade design, its glazing and skylights. It can be expanded by the use of special systems for the directing of light or for its transportation.
Design With Artificial Light
Within this area belong all activities for lighting interior or exterior spaces with the help of technical lighting sources, whether in combination with daylight or without it. Artificial light creates moods and generates atmosphere. It is stimulating and vitalising. Artificial light allows us moreover to be independent from daylight and allows the use of architecture 24 hours a day. Light becomes the centre of nightlife and nighttime experience. It forms and shapes architecture more profoundly than daylight and becomes an unmistakable design element for the architecture of the night.
