As a showroom, a workshop for ideas and, a communication forum the recently completed Technology and Design Centre will supply the lighting industry with new ideas for creativity and innovation.

In Traunreut, Germany, the headquarters of Siteco Lighting, the Technology and Design Centre (TDC) has commenced operations.

“Within this building,”  said managing director Andreas Schütte, “we intend to make innovation, service and solution competence, an obtainable reality.”

For visitors, the Technology and Design Centre hosts innovative technologies, luminaire ranges and lighting concepts from every product spectrum.  Road and exterior lighting, industrial, sports, workplace lighting, public sector building and retail are all expertly and excitingly displayed.

“…we also want to present to our visitors, technologies for the efficient use of natural daylight and lighting management systems.  This totality of themes, bundled within one location, is unique in Europe." states Klaus-Peter Siemssen, Director of Sales and Marketing.

But the Technology and Design Centre is not only to be seen as a showroom, but also as a workshop for the development of individual project lighting solutions.  Customers can experience Siteco first hand, meeting product managers and designers, whilst discussing their project needs as a working group. The centre offers a fantastic opportunity for Architects, Specifiers and Contractors to discuss together the right solution for their project..

Klaus-Peter Siemssen sees one of the most important functions of the new institution as a facilitator of innovative solutions.  “We want to be able to inspire our customers, but we rely upon stimulations from outside.  Innovative solutions tailored to specific needs can only be properly developed through a process of dialogue and understanding of needs.”

At the same time the TDC serves as an information and communication platform.  It is a campus that will offer seminars for both customers and experts from the building industry.  Siteco expect to receive up to 8,000 national and international guests yearly.  Investors, architects, designers, specifiers and technicians from installation companies: everyone involved with the implementation of an architectural project are invited to experience the Technology and Design Centre.

The  designers, Brüderl + Namberger, incorporated the original visitor centre - a semi-spherical central building and administration block and supplemented it with two new buildings - a 75 metre long conical building with a reception building aligned perpendicular to it.  This creates a delightful open courtyard for guests to relax before entering the building, which covers some 1500 m².  Within this, 500m² has been designated to a main product presentation room.  Here, groups of up to  400 people can be accommodated, viewing products and lighting concepts in situ for a wide range of applications. This space has powered, moveable ceiling heights, fully controlled individual lighting points, full sized glazed daylight control installation and high quality audio visual systems.  A high quality restaurant to cater for guests completes this outstanding facility, allowing visitors to feel relaxed, cared for and inspired.

The construction of the Technology and Design Centre with a cost of around 6 m euros is for Siteco, a further important step in a comprehensive investment programme which is  hoped will be provide a positive visitor experience leaving them with an understanding of the  high level of innovation and commitment offered by the Siteco brand.

Andreas Schütte is confident that,  ''...we have fulfilled the necessity for a contemporary presentation of state-of-the-art technologies within a framework that reflects the national and international importance of our organisation“.
